Services

The BC Kidney Research Collaboratory offers services that help British Columbia’s community of kidney researchers do their best work, leading to better treatment and care for people living with kidney disease. Reach out to us to learn more about our services, or to request support.

Research project management

Research project management involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing various stages of a project lifecycle, including design, ethics and regulatory approvals, resource allocation, interest holder engagement, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. It ensures research activities are delivered efficiently while adhering to scientific and ethical standards.

Projects that have successfully gone through the Collaboratory’s review process are eligible for research project management support from the Collaboratory’s operational team.

Note: The team’s ability to support new projects is based on current capacity. Some services are offered on a cost recovery basis.

Data support

BC Renal’s PROMIS database is an integral cornerstone to the research support provided by the BC Kidney Research Collaboratory. In addition to providing raw data from PROMIS, our data team can assist with study design, the statistical and analytical plan, and methodology design to maximize the impact of the data. We also offer consultation on data presentation in the resulting manuscript.

Note: In BC, data access for research is guided under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)

Grant support

Submitting a grant application, developing a budget and finding partners for your grant proposal can involve a lot of administrative work. Reach out to our team for their expert advice on how to navigate these processes.

As part of your grant application, you must follow specific procedures to obtain the relevant signatures from your academic institution. More detail for individual institutions can be found at the links below:

Our team can help you navigate the ethics approval process for your research project, guiding you to the relevant policies and preparatory tutorials, to support a successful submission for a research ethics board review.

Your research must be approved by a Research Ethics Board before you begin your project. You cannot receive retroactive approvals. UBC and Fraser Health offer more detail on their websites.
